Around The Block

Pembroke Pines
Reflecting History and Nature

The city’s name is a nod to one of the area’s first settlers who was a British member of Parliament for the county of Pembroke, Wales. When the city incorporated in 1960, it combined the British name with the area’s natural foliage: pine trees. In the ’90s, the city boomed both economically and in population, building the county’s largest charter school system and a beautiful network of green spaces.

What To Expect

A well-manicured suburb dotted with lakes and waterways

Featured in Time Magazine’s “50 Best Places to Live” in 2014, Pembroke Pines is an ideal destination to enjoy a suburban life. With beaches to the east and the Everglades to the west, this beautifully-landscaped neighborhood features plenty of parks that bring residents outdoors to enjoy the sun.

The Lifestyle

A calm, safe, and peaceful vibe

A relatively young city, Pembroke Pines is making a name for itself as the perfect place to raise a family among the diverse and lush landscape of South Florida. Residents value a safe and serene atmosphere where it’s possible to spend whole weekends outdoors. For entertainment, you’ll find mini-golf, driving ranges, waterslides, and batting cages. For art and culture lovers, the Susan B. Katz Theater of the Performing Arts offers performances that appeal to everyone from toddlers to senior citizens.

Unexpected Appeal

A well-preserved local culture despite impressive growth

In 1999, Pembroke Pines was the third-fastest growing city in the country, and long-time residents have noticed the increase in traffic. Despite all the new growth, residents welcome new faces in keeping with their motto, “Join Us – Progress with Us.”

The Market

Gated communities with affordable Mediterranean Modern condos

Pembroke Pines has housing to meet anyone’s priorities and budget, from country club family mansions to studios for young professionals. In the older section of town to the east, single-family homes are common, while the west has gated communities with newer townhomes, sprawling estates, and luxe condos. But no matter where you live, there are pristine parks, great shopping, and notable public and charter schools right around the corner.
